Trip to beach ends in fireball terror

Peter Wem was a life-loving, do-anything-for-you kind of person, volunteering at a northern Sydney scout group in his spare time. He and his wife Margaret had just returned from a three-month caravan holiday. But on Tuesday afternoon, after a trip to the northern beaches with friends visiting from Victoria, their car collided with an out-of-control petrol tanker. And the consequences were fatal. Mr Wem was driving his Subaru when he collided with the tanker carrying 50,000 litres of fuel, as it hurtled down the wrong side of Mona Vale Road.
