Restraining order fails to stop Honolulu girl murder

The Sydney News.Net
Friday 20th March, 2009

Royal Kaukani, 25, of Ewa Beach, Honolulu, Hawaii, was in fear of her ex-boyfriend, Toi Nofoa.

When she broke off with Nofoa, Nofoa kidnapped her at work at gunpoint. She later escaped when Nofoa stopped for gas.

Nofoa was due to appear in court on March 5 over the kidnapping but failed to show up, forfeiting $75,000 bail.

Before and after his scheduled court hearing date, Nofoa violated a protective restraining order taken out by Kaukani, which runs through until 2028. According to Honolulu police the order was violated several times.

Last week Kaukani fled to a safe house after her ex-boyfiend assaulted her with a knife.

On Tuesday her worst fears culminated when she was shot dead in her Hummer near her home at Ewa Beach at 2:30 in the afternoon.

Nofoa has been charged with her murder.

Restraining order fails to stop Honolulu girl murder

this is so unfair cos trying him for murder will not bring her back.the law should really be more protective of citizens because they should have been able to predict such occurence from his attitude.
