Hong Kong banker targets Cairns for casino

BRISBANE - A Hong Kong billionaire is lobbying the Queensland government to allow him to build a casino in the state's far north.Tony Fung, a Hong Kong banker from one of Asia's wealthiest families, has written to the state government seeking a meeting to discuss his plans for a casino in Cairns, a spokesman for Premier Campbell Newman has told AAP."No formal submission or offer has been made by Mr Fung," the spokesman said on Sunday.He said the letter is recent and the government is yet to respond.News Limited newspapers say Mr Fung has been privately lobbying the government for support to bu...
